Officer pulls gun on wife during domestic argument

Officers of the Gender Base Violence Unit of the TTPS, is currently investigating a domestic incident in Maloney Gardens on Saturday night, where a police officer was detained for pulling his firearm on his wife.

According to reports, the couple was at their Maloney Gardens home at about 11 pm when they got into an argument while in bed.

During the exchange, the 44-year-old husband, who is assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Unit at Riverside Plaza, Port-of-Spain, became so enraged that he allegedly assaulted his 35-year-old by pushing her against a wall and pulled out his firearm.

It is alleged that he placed it on her neck saying ‘what you’re going to do now’.

On hearing the melee, victim’s son entered the room and tried to intervene, but the man then pointed the firearm at the young man, following which the wife stepped in the middle.

The victim and her son managed to leave the premises and make a report at the Maloney Police Station.
