The government has announced that the Petrotrin refinery will not go to Patriotic for the following main reasons:
1. Patriotic unable to get letter of assurance from RBC
2. Conclusions of committee is that it was not advisable for govt to remove lien to facilitate sale to Patriotic
3. Govt will return to open market
4. Govt bent over backwards to facilitate sale but must protect public interest.
