NAMDEVCO opens new wholesale market in Woodford Lodge

In an effort to meet the needs of stakeholders within the Central area, the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO) opened a new Wholesale Market at the Woodford Lodge Facility, Chaguanas, where local farmers and large-scale buyers can now facilitate trade.

Over forty vendors benefitted from the success of the Opening Day; with one pawpaw vendor completing sales within the first ten minutes of trading.

Operations of the Woodford Lodge Facility Wholesale Market commenced on November 25, 2023, with a brief Opening Ceremony, led by Ms. Nirmalla Debysingh, Chief Executive Officer.

Ms. Debysingh, indicated that the new Wholesale Market will provide the opportunity for fresh produce to quickly transition from traders to end-users, in a safe and convenient environment.

Mr. Wayne Inniss, Chairman, also attended the event and encouraged all farmers and buyers to support trading at this new facility, which will greatly benefit all stakeholders along the value chain, and positively contribute to the future of agriculture in Trinidad and Tobago.

At the Opening, persons were entertained with live parang and performances by Chutney Soca Monarch Queen Katelin Sultan and Kaylee Sultan, Neeshad Sultan and Saheif Chinee.

The new Woodford Lodge Facility Wholesale Market is now open on Saturdays from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm and entry is free. Persons interested in trading at this new market can contact the Woodford Lodge Facility at 610-6527.
