Buju, Shabba and Lil Wayne team up on “Book of Clarence” soundtrack’: LISTEN

Lil Wayne has joined forces with renowned dancehall legends Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks for a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration called “Hallelujah Heaven” — listen to it below.

The track, a fusion of gospel and dancehall, is produced by the multi-talented Jeymes Samuel and will appear on the soundtrack for his new movie, The Book of Clarence.

“Hallelujah, holy shit, I get high as Buddha/ Put you on a highway to heaven like I’m your Uber/ I maneuver through Miami like I was Tua/ Like I was Shuler, King of Diamonds like I’m a jeweler / Hallelujah, from Hollygrove to Honolulu/ Me, Shabba, Buju, the holy ghosts will probably spook you,” Weezy spits in his opening verse.

Co-produced by JAY-Z, The Book of Clarence is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024. It stars LaKeith Stanfield as “a down-on-his-luck man named Clarence living in 29 A.D. Jerusalem, who looks to capitalize on the rise of Jesus Christ by claiming to be a new Messiah sent by God in an attempt to free himself of debt and start a life of glory for himself,” according to the synopsis.

Stanfield is joined in the biblical comedy by Omar Sy, Anna Diop, RJ Cyler, David Oyelowo, Micheal Ward and Alfre Woodard, as well as Teyana Taylor, Benedict Cumberbatch and Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin.

JAY-Z made a surprise return to social media in August to share a teaser for the film. A full-length trailer, which can be seen below, was released on Tuesday (November 28).

“This story is about a young man who finds his faith through love and through wanting to become somebody in the world, which is the story of everybody,” Hov told Vanity Fair of the movie.

“Everyone wants to find love and everyone wants to leave this place having accomplished something, having left their mark that they’ve been here and hopefully affected the world in a positive way.”

The Roc Nation mogul is expected to contribute new music to The Book of Clarence soundtrack, along with Kid Cudi. A full tracklist has yet to be revealed.

JAY-Z and Jeymes Samuel previously teamed up on the 2021 Netflix Western The Harder They Fall, which boasted an all-Black cast including Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz and Regina King.
