The UMMAH T&T Muslim Lobby Group is calling on all religious leaders to come together in a National Day of Prayer for the safe return of Andrea Bharratt.
Chairman of Ummah T&T, Imam Rasheed Karim, who led a team on the search for Ms Bharratt on Tuesday, said religious leaders could do more to raise awareness and protect their congregations.
Imam Karim said when the foundation of governance institutions starts to crumble, it is left to the family and the sound spiritual values that all religions teach to bring us back from the brink.
Imam Karim said lessons, especially targeting the young men in society about their obligations in creating a safe and stable environment, must take precedence on the pulpit.
He complimented Police Commissioner Gary Griffith for taking the initiative in the search for Andrea and hoped that he is successful in bringing her home safely.
Imam Karim said Commissioner Griffith must also ensure the miscreants are brought before the court of law to answer for their heinous deed.
