Murder in Valsayn | Police officer gunned down in Spring Village

Police are currently investigating the murder of one of their own at Bassie Street in Spring Village, Valsayn.

Around 9:15pm on Wednesday night, police were notified of a shooting Spring Village and on arrival, found the lifeless body of a man lying on the roadway next to a bullet riddled car.

The body was later identified as that of police officer Ravindra Harrinarine.

Police later confirmed that Harrinarine was speaking with a female friend near his Subaru Forester vehicle that was parked on Bassie Street, around 9.15 pm when a car drove near them.

Two masked gunmen got out of the car and confronted Harrinarine as his friend ran away. The friend returned shortly after to see Harrinarine bleeding from gunshot wounds on the ground. A district medical officer was called in and declared Harrinarine dead.

Investigators said Harrinarine had his tactical belt and holster, but his licensed pistol was missing. Police found 15 spent 9 mm shells at the scene.
