There was a shootout at the New City Mall in downtown Port of Spain this morning, as three men said to be armed with guns and cutlasses entered the establishment to stage a robbery.
The incident took place around 10:45am.
Reports state that when the suspects entered the Mall, they were confronted by municipal police officers which led to a shoot-out.
Two men were said to have been injured.
However, one of them allegedly escaped by jumping out of the truck being used to take them to hospital.
The second injured suspect was taken to hospital where he was treated and warded under police guard.
The alleged robbery followed a reported break-in at the mall on Friday night.
