The Ministry of Works and Transport says it is actively responding to an incident that occurred on
30th March, 2024 around 7:30 p.m. in the Diego Martin River.
A release noted that this matter involved a collision between a vessel and a barge.
It stated that persons involved in the incident were rescued and promptly received
medical attention and there have been no reported casualties.
The Ministry acknowledged the gravity of the situation and revealed that it has initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the details.
It said safety and security along waterways remain a paramount concern for the Ministry of Works and
Transport, as such, every effort is being made to swiftly resolve this matter.
It assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
