More Focus Given To Youth Camp Development

Government is currently in the process of revitalising the youth development and apprentorship centres formally referred to as youth camps.

In April 2002 the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service started refurbishment and construction work at the Persto Praesto Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centre in Freeport of which the breeding unit is an extension.

The refurbished facility will provide a residential development programme for 250 young persons which would incorporate technical vocational skills and a detailed approach to the personal development and empowerment of the nation’s youth.

Leader of  Government Business in the Senate, Dr Amery Browne, provided the information in response to a question posed by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, on whether Government has taken a decision to discontinue the operations of the Breeding Unit of the Persto Praesto Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centre.
