Man fined $2,000 for stealing cell phone from Ministry

Donavan Sheldon Clarke, 45, was yesterday ordered to pay $2,000 for stealing a cell phone from the Ministry of Education office, St Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain.

On Tuesday 24th August 2021, Clarke was charged by No. 16936 W/Ag. Cpl Moses for the offence of larceny cellphone which occurred at the office of the Ministry of Education, St. Vincent, Port-of-Spain. Clarke appeared virtually before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor on Friday 27th August, 2021.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined $2,000 to be paid on or before the September 22nd, 2021. Failure to pay, Clarke will serve six months with hard labour.

The combined efforts of officers of the Port of Spain Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Cyber and Social Media Unit, resulted in the apprehension of Clarke in Morvant on Monday 23rd August, 2021. A cell phone was also recovered.
