Man drowns at Las Cuevas beach

A 21-year-old man drowned while bathing at Las Cuevas beach on Sunday 14th April,.

Around 2:30pm, Jerron Elder of Jack Terrace, Lendore Village, Chaguanas, was in the water with a friend when they were both pulled out by a strong current.

Elder got into difficulties and went underwater while his friend managed to swim to shore and raise an alarm.

Bystanders immediately assisted and were able to bring Elder to shore.

The emergency health services were notified and Elder was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police were also notified and PC Patrick is continuing inquiries.
