Making a statement, setting goals, creating trends Pt. 1 – ‘my voice ruled the airwaves’

Every year we talk about women empowerment – 2021 is no different even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

#choosetochallenge is this year’s theme for International Women’s Day.

A challenged world is an alert world; individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions.

We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

This feature was created to celebrate great women among us, some you know and some you may not know and some you may know just by the silkiness of their voice and the way they style their hair.

That’s right women make statements, set goals and create trends – and this woman has done all of that.

My first feature is around Ms. Sharon Pitt – yes the golden voice we have all grown to love over the years both on radio and television.

Broadcaster Sharon Pitt has an award winning career that spans over 30 years. She began her career at the National Broadcasting Service Radio 610 as a news reporter and worked her way up to producer and then programme administrator at Radio 100 fm.

From 2008 to early 2015 Pitt served as Programme Manager at Power 102.1fm.

She has also worked in television, hosting Woman Today on Trinidad and Tobago Television TTT in the late eighties.

We were able to have a chat with Ms. Pitt about her drive and love for the media and balancing it with being a mother.

Listen to her story –
