Labourer swept away by rushing river waters

A Biche man is dead after he was swept away by swollen river waters and drowned.

Solomon David, 47, of Wells Street and his neighbour, Michael Bharat, went into a forested area at Biche/ Ortoire Road to cut chadon beni.

When they got to the river, it was swollen and they decided to return home.

Before leaving, they attempted to wash their boots in the river and David fell into the water and was swept away.

Bharat raised an alarm and officers of the Biche Police Station were informed.

David’s body was later recovered from the river.

The man was a labourer employed with the Rio Claro/ Mayaro Regional Corporation.
