President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Christine Kangaloo described the late Basdeo Panday as someone who could turn from sweet to bitter if provoked.
Speaking during her contribution at the funeral of the late Basdeo Panday, she said that while he could be remembered as a caring and loving soul, he could just as easily deliver a tongue lashing to anyone who decided to “poke the lion”.
She said another aspect she appreciated of the man, whose life was being celebrated, was his deep love for his wife and his family.
