Kamla: Budget was a vicious attack on the poor in T&T

Poor people have been ignored and made to suffer, while big businesses are the only ones who benefit from the Finance Minister’s Budget presentation.

This was the comment from Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar during her response to the Budget this morning in Parliament.

She insisted that the contents of the Budget only exacerbated an already untenable situation for citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

She quoted newspaper reports that described the Budget as one that only sought the interest of big businesses while the average citizens had to suffer even more than they have been suffering.

Describing the Budget as a vicious attack on the poor she said only the PNM upper class stood to benefit.
