A man said to be an illegal gunsmith, and who was wanted by police in connection for his ties to criminals, was shot dead in Petit Valley early Saturday morning.
Just before 6 am, Steven Phillip had just exited his vehicle to open the gate to a house where he was staying at Hummingbird Circular, Sparrow Drive in Petit Valley, when he was greeted with gunfire.
He died at the scene of the shooting and officers of the Western Division and the Region 1 Homicide Bureau of Investigations are conducting Investigations.
Phillip was wanted by police after they found a cache of firearms components and ammunition inside his vehicle at Basilon Street, Tunapuna home in January of this year.
Since then IATF officers had been searching for him.
He was said to be affiliated with the Sixx gang.
