Gun, ammo, narcotics discovered during Morvant police exercise

Police are currently investigating the discovery of a firearm, ammunition and narcotics in the Morvant district.

On March 16th, officers of the Morvant district conducted an exercise at Paradise Heights, Pitch Road, and St. Charles Orphan Road, Morvant.

While at Pitch Road Morvant, the officers searched an abandoned vehicle and discovered 120 grammes of Marijuana, officers gathered certain information and then proceeded to St Charles Orphan Road.

The officers, with the assistance of a police canine, entered an empty lot of land where one black Taurus pistol with 10 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition was discovered.

The firearm and ammunition were removed and taken to forensics for processing. Officers are also following other leads in the discovery of the items.

The investigation is ongoing.
