Griffith encourages soon-to-be CoP Christopher to not be used as a political pawn

Former Police Commissioner, Gary Griffith is encouraging the soon to be appointed top cop, Erla Harewood-Christopher to not be used as a political pawn in anyone’s games and to remember her oath in office is to be in service of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

In a video posted to social media this morning, Griffith said while the process is flawed, we as a nation should come together and support her.

Griffith said: “I reapplied just to demonstrate, that in a time when our country is going through its darkest hour with 600 plus murders last year and 60 in the first month of this year, this one individual will not place his personal view, anger and emotion aside and listen to the vast majority of the citizens of this country and do what may be better for the country, to keep you as citizens safe.”

“This is what is known as democratic dictatorship.”

Griffith said it is disrespectful that politicians believe that they can manipulate a process so badly and not be exposed, believing that citizens can be so gullible not to see through it, thankfully most do.”

This is why, he said, Erla Christopher’s role is even more pivotal to our collective future.
