Google Creating Coronavirus Site To Help Find Testing

US President Donald Trump announced on March 13th that Google is in the process of setting up a website to allow each citizen to determine if a coronavirus test is necessary according to his symptoms.

If the coronavirus significantly slows the economy, it does not stop progress. The American giant is currently developing a state-of-the-art tool to screen for coronavirus.

“Google is helping to develop a website (…) to determine if a test is warranted and to facilitate the test in a convenient place nearby ”, the President announced at a press conference in the White House gardens. Google spoke on twitter confirming this announcement “We are designing a tool to help sort individuals who need a Covid-19 test. ”

According to Donald Trump, 1,700 engineers are currently working on this site which will cover the United States “and a large part of the world ”. The date of availability of the site should be specified from March 15th, according to Vice-President Mike Pence:

“YOU CAN GO TO THIS SITE, ENTER YOUR SYMPTOMS AND YOU WILL BE TOLD WHETHER OR NOT A TEST IS NEEDED,” BEFORE BEING DIRECTED TO THE NEAREST PLACE TO HAVE A TEST, HE SAID.”

However, Trump hinted that the tool would be used by everyone, the tech giant told The New York Times that the service was originally designed to be used only by healthcare professionals.

Verily, the health division of Alphabet (parent company of Google) responsible for this task also testifies to the words of the President of the United States and explains via a tweet that they are only at the “beginnings of the development of the site and plans to start testing it in the San Francisco area first, hoping to expand it further later. ”
