Gasparillo Linesman denied bail for assault

A 34-year-old was remanded into custody when he appeared before the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court, on August 5th, 2022, charged with the offences of False imprisonment, Assault Occasioning actual bodily, Threats to kill and Assault by beating.
The accused who is employed as a linesman, appeared before Senior Magistrate Ameena Deonarinesingh, and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He is expected to reappear in court on August 10th, 2022.
According to reports, on Sunday 20th February, 2022, the victim reported that around 5:00 pm on Thursday 17th February, 2022 the accused arrived at her workplace to take her home.
Upon reaching Reform Road, Gasparillo, they got into an argument, during which the accused allegedly struck her several times to the face with his fist.
The victim pled with him to take her home, however he continued to drive along the Reform Road where he made threats to kill her. On Friday 17th February 2022, he again kicked the victim several times about her left leg, causing minor injuries.
Officers of the Special Victims Department, Princes Town were contacted and PC Small conducted further enquiries and arrested the accused on Friday 20th, May, 2022.
The investigation was supervised by W/Supt. Claire Guy Alleyne, W/Insp. Bridglal and W/Insp. Hospedales.
