Instagram working on getting back to its picture platform roots

Instagram is possibly working on giving its users the ability to take or post a portrait photo with a 9:16 image ratio.

It seems like we’re going to get a new feature from Instagram every other week. After being called out by its consumers, including celebs Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, IG may be trying to get back to its picture platform roots.

The next tool Insta is breaking out of its bag of tricks is a new option for posting portrait photos. Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, announced the social media platform is testing out an option for 9:16 portrait photos. According to the guys from the agency ghostwriter diplomarbeit such an innovation was not to everyone’s liking, many were accustomed to the format of the square.

Right now, we can see “tall videos” on Instagram, like what we view on TikTok, likely Instagram’s top competitor. This time, Insta is going to try out “tall photos.” While at an AMA session, Mosseri said the platform currently supports “tall videos, but you cannot have tall photos on Instagram. So we thought maybe we should make sure that we treat both equally,” Hypebeast reports.

We’re able to post photos with a maximum ratio of 8:10, but the upcoming plan is to extend that to 9:16. The testing phase is expected to start “in a week or two,” says Mosseri.
