Five men were arrested and quantities of marijuana seized by officers of the Southern Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the La Romaine district yesterday morning.
Officers of the Southern Division Task Force, conducted an exercise around 5:35am, on Saturday 3rd October, 2020, along the South Trunk Road, La Romaine, during which they had cause to stop and search a silver Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with three male occupants.
The search resulted in officers finding 7.2 kilogrammes of marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $72,000.
The three suspects; a 32-year-old and a 24-year-old both of Tunapuna and a 23-year-old of San Juan, were arrested in connection with the find.
During the same exercise, officers had cause to stop and search a white Nissan AD Wagon with two male occupants a few minutes later. The search resulted in officers finding three packets containing 3.2 kilogrammes of marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $32,000.
The two suspects, a 22-year-old of Chickland and a 21-year-old of San Fernando were arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
