Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of a fire that started at the Beetham Landfill on Tuesday evening.
In a release, the Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL), said that the fire started around 6pm last evening and was confined to the southeastern end of the landfill.
It says further that the company’s Emergency Management Team worked throughout the night to ensure that the blaze was contained.
Notwithstanding, SWMCOL is advising individuals with respiratory conditions, and those who work and reside in the vicinity to exercise caution.
