Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze at an elderly home in Point Fortin, which claimed the life of a 76-year-old former calypsonian.
Michael Cormun also known as ‘Galba’, was found after fire fighters extinguished the blaze at the senior citizens home in Techier Village, which began shortly after midnight.
Residents reported hearing loud explosions coming from an apartment within the senior citizens community and then saw the apartment on fire.
They quickly notified emergency services and the responding firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
