Green Party of T&T a one man show, says former party member

One of the interim committee members of the National Green Party (NGP), Nigel Barry Mahabir, said that Dr. Everold Hosein jumped ship when he left the party to form his own: The Green Party of Trinidad and Tobago.

Mahabir said the NGP, although not been registered with the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC), has been active since 2012. He described Hosein as “a one man show” as he checked Hosein’s background and could not find anyone working with him. He said he, like the rest of the country, is waiting for more information regarding the party since Hosein is expected to host a press conference tomorrow. “There is no information anywhere and we haven’t seen anything so we’re waiting the press conference tomorrow so that we can go and spy,” he joked. He said there is no love lost between the two, adding that the Green Party is for the betterment of the country. But he warned that persons should be careful when using the “green party” banner as the green initiative is all for nation building.

Mahabir said the NGP is not in a position to contest the General elections in 2020, but they are looking forward to the Local Government Elections on December 2 as they will contest the San Fernando East and San Fernando West seats.
