Final Report Into Paria Diving Tragedy Completed

The final report into the Commission of Enquiry into the Paria Diving Tragedy is completed.

It will be presented to President, Christine Kangaloo, tomorrow.

Chairman of the Enquiry, Jerome Lynch, Kings Counsel, made the disclosure while speaking during a virtual sitting on Wednesday.

Last year February, divers Rishi Nagassar, Kazim Ali Jr, Fyzal Kurban, Yusuf Henry and Christopher Boodram were carrying out maintenance work on an underwater pipeline belonging to Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited when tragedy stuck.

The lone survivor was Boodram.

He  said the overall cost is about 15 and a half million dollars.

The breakdown is contained in the report and will be available once the report is made public.

He said the commission was not pressured in any way politically, financially or otherwise in doing its job.
