FIFA extends Normalization Committee’s mandate until March 2023

The Bureau of the FIFA Council on Friday announced the extension of the Normalization Committee’s mandate until March 31st 2023.

The decision was made on December 17th.

In a letter signed by FIFA’s Secretary General Fatma Samoura, the sport’s governing body cited delays caused by a number of factors related to the former Board’s resistance to the Committee, restrictions due to the pandemic, and a subsequent backlog of TTFA operations.

The FIFA said this caused a domino effect that included the inability to appoint an independent auditor and stymied the association’s financial operations.

The letter acknowledged that, during the next 15 months, the Committee, together with a Licensed Trustee under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act of Trinidad and Tobago, will manage the debt proposal process going forward.
