St James police are investigating the circumstance surrounding an accident on Saturday night, which involved the driver of the Archbishop of Port of Spain’s official vehicle and resulted in the death of a woman.
The unidentified woman was knocked down while attempting to cross the Audrey Jeffers Highway, Cocorite and died on the spot.
The incident occurred around 7.30 pm, when the Archbishop’s driver was headed west in the official blue Volkswagen.
The driver reported that he had the green light at the time of the accident and that the woman ran across the road near the Cocorite Fish Market.
It is not yet known if Archbishop Jason Gordon was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
