A constable with the SWAT Estate Police, accidentally shot himself in the leg while on duty at a supermarket in Princes Town on Tuesday.
According to reports, the 33-year-old man was fixing his clothes after using the toilet at Persad’s Superstore in Princes Town around 5:15pm, when one round from his Sig Sauer P320 service pistol discharged and penetrated his right leg.
The ambulance took him to the Princes Town Health Facility, and then to the San Fernando General Hospital for an x-ray and further treatment. Investigations are continuing.
