U.S Embassy warns of fraudulent calls

The U. S Embassy wishes to warn the public of a scam using the telephone numbers of the U.S. Embassy.

Members of the public have informed the Embassy that they have received calls with the U.S. Embassy Port of Spain’s telephone number listed as the caller ID. The caller claims to work for the U.S. Embassy and either demands money or offers contract work.

The Embassy wishes to advise the public that it does not call to demand money from individuals, and follows specific protocols when tendering offers. If persons do receive fraudulent calls, they should report the matter to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s Fraud Squad.
