Economist Hails T&T’s 60 Years Of Independent Progress, Notwithstanding Slowed Economic Growth

Sixty years of Independence in Trinidad and Tobago is being described as a very momentous achievement.

The country has been able to make great strides in many different ways during this time period.

This has been achieved in areas such as increased Gross Domestic Product per capita; a less than 10 percent unemployment rate and a prosperous economy over time.

It’s an assessment coming from economist, Roger Hosein, as he responded to the question on his thoughts on Trinidad and Tobago’s 60th Anniversary of Independence.

Mr Hosein claimed this country has not experienced economic growth in any meaningful way since 2008.

The economist also claimed economic activity today, in 2022, is much lower than it was in 2015 and, according to some basic calculations, is about sixteen percent lower.
