Duke says Farley not ‘mentally mature enough’ to have convo on behalf of Tobago on self-governance

Leader of the PDP Watson Duke believes that Tobagonians are ready for self-governance however Farley Augustine is not equipped to lead this charge on behalf of the Tobago people.

Augustine explained that the THA is not drafting its own amendments but rather preparing a document highlighting the differences between the original proposals from Tobagonians and the current bill in Parliament.

He said his recent comments on the completed document, which was worked on by former chief secretary Hochoy Charles—who died on December 31—and himself, were misconstrued.

He clarified, that he indicated that it would be disseminated to parliamentarians and Tobagonians at large.

Speaking in an interview with Good Morning Tobago this morning Duke said that Augustine is not in any place mentally to have such an important conversation on behalf of the sister isle.

He said no cap should be put on what Tobago could get by way self-governance.
