Drop In Patients Being Brought To Hospitals With COVID-19 In TT.

Principal Medical Officer, Ministry of Health, Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards, is reporting a drop in patients with COVID-19 being brought to hospitals locally.

Dr Abdool Richards says this positive trend has been noticed in the past week.

In its latest clinical update on Monday, the Ministry of Health said there were two hundred and ninety-one patients in hospital with the virus.

It said one hundred and ten positive new cases were reported in the past forty-eight hours.

The Ministry said one thousand, three hundred and thirty-six persons have died from the virus in Trinidad and Tobago.

Speaking at Monday’s Ministry of Health virtual news briefing, Dr Abdool Richards, said the downward trend is an encouraging development and lessens the strain on the parallel health care system.

Dr Abdool Richards said at present hospital occupancy stands at thirty –six percent.
