2 new Covid deaths push toll to 74

The Ministry of Health said that two additional persons have died as a result of the Covid-19 virus.

Both persons are elderly males with comorbidities. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 74.

Fifty-five additional persons have also tested positive for the virus.

The Ministry of Health then provided the following clinical update as of the morning of Tuesday, September 29, 2020:

Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19- 30,779

Number of unique patient tests completed- 27,716

Number of repeated tests- 3,063

Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago- 4,441

Total number of active cases- 1,913

Number of deaths- 74

Number of persons discharged from public health facilities- 1,036

Number of recovered community cases- 1,418

Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation.

There are 121 Covid-positive patients at the hospital:

  • Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility- 57 (4 ICU and 5 HDU)
  • Caura Hospital- 45
  • Arima General Hospital- 5 (4 ICU)
  • Augustus Long Hospital- 1
  • St Ann’s Hospital- 10
  • Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort- 2
  • Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill- 1

There are 12 patients in Step-down / Transition Facilities:

  • UWI, Debe- 4
  • Tobago- 8
