The musician, 46, whose legal name is Earl Simmons, finished his sentencing for tax evasion at a substance abuse facility in New England, back in 2017.
‘House arrest wasn’t working for me, so I made the decision to do something positive and better for myself,’ said DMX.
However fast forward to October 12th, 2019, DMX handlers posted on his Instagram page “that in his ongoing to commitment to putting his family and himself first, DMX has himself checked into a rehab facility.”
“He apologises for the cancellation of his shows.”
DMX has spoken openly about his addiction to crack cocaine, which began when he was 14 years old after he smoked a marijuana cigarette laced with the drug.
He also claims to have bipolar disorder.
Back in January 2019 during a radio interview on ‘The Big Boi Neighbourhood’ just a few days out of prison, DMX spoke about his addiction to cocaine, which plagued him for years.
Although he said he no longer indulges in the highly addictive narcotic, he admitted he still drinks alcohol occasionally.
