Customs Officials Seize Ammunition And Drugs In Couva

Officers of the Customs and Excise Division seized a quantity of ammunition and narcotics at a transit shed in the Couva area on Tuesday, May 9th.

In a statement, the Customs and Excise Division said at around 2:30pm, during routine examinations, Customs officials discovered the contraband goods in a barrel. They seized 200 rounds of 12 gauge shotgun shell ammunition and 3.194 kilogrammes of a green plant like substance resembling marijuana with an estimated street value of $250,000.

Investigations are ongoing in conjunction with officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
