Criminologist says crime in T&T following Mexican model

The crime terrain in Trinidad and Tobago has evolved and we are now in the Mexican business model, and the increase in murders is as a result of the change in business models in T&T.

This is according to Criminologist Darius Figuera. He explained that it moved on from the Columbian model that had been operating before.

He stated that the last phase of the Columbian blended guns and cocaine trafficking.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning, he said over the years one could see the link between the evolving business model and what is presently happening in the ground.

He said the murder spree that has escalated from 2017 until now is being driven by the change from the Columbian to the Mexican model.
