PM challenges religious leaders to help change the negative behaviour among children today

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has issued a challenge to all religious leaders.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony for Hayes Court to Anglican Bishop, The Right Reverend Claude Berkley, Rowley call on all religious bodies to assume greater responsibility for calling on the national community to take better care of the country’s children.

He said many parents do not pay attention to their children and the deficiency is noticeable when those children interacted with the public.

However, he said the teachings of religious bodies will contribute to changing the negative behaviour being seen today.

“It is during this time, when in the absence of proper schooling and parenting, that the country is losing a significant portion of its young children,” Dr Rowley said.

He noted things could be much worse had there not been centuries of collaboration with the church, and its influence in guiding societies’ positive values, traditions and behaviours.
