Commissioner of Police (Ag) Gary Griffith says the ‘Acting’ position is indefinite.
He says his acting position would be dependent on when an official appointment is made.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning Griffith said it first has to go to Parliament before a decision is made.
He said there was no reappointment clause in his contract.
He also commented on the ongoing investigation into Head of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Legal Unit, Christian Chandler.
Chandler has been sent on leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the Coast Guard interception of a yacht with Chandler and 13 other people on board, following a stand-off at sea.
He assured that the investigation would be conducted in a very transparent manner.
