Commissioner of Prisons promotes three officers

Commissioner of Prisons (Ag), Mr. Deopersad Ramoutar, on Friday presided over the promotion of three officers in the First Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service at his office in Port of Spain.

The brief ceremony saw the presentation of promotional instruments to Mr. Ricardo Dass who was promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Prisons to Superintendent of Prisons and Messrs. Dion Emmanuel and Terry Joseph who were promoted from Prisons Supervisors to Assistant Superintendents of Prisons.

Commissioner Ramoutar congratulated the officers on their promotion and reminded them that to whom much is given, much is expected. He advised them to exercise reliable and trustworthy ethics, be positive role models and to employ intrinsic motivation strategies to revive Officers’ passion and appreciation for the job. He advised that at times, leadership forces the application of unpopular decisions, but it is necessary in order to achieve the goals of the organization.

Words of wisdom and congratulations were extended by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons (Ag), Mr. Sherwin Bruce, Assistant Commissioners of Prisons (Ag.), Mr. Felix Alexis and Mr. Elvin Scanterbury and newly elected President of the Prisons Officers Association, Mr. Gerard Gordon, who were all present at the brief ceremony.
