Chaguanas man remanded on multiple child pornography charges

A 33-year-old man from Chaguanas was remanded into custody, when he appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on 10th March 2023. The man was charged with two counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child, Creating Child Pornography, and Possession of Child Pornography.

The accused re-appeared in court on Friday, 17th March 2023.

Police reports indicate that while conducting ongoing enquiries on Saturday 3rd March 2023, officers of the Chaguanas Police Station arrested a suspect for being in possession of child pornography. Subsequently, officers of the Child Protection Unit, Central Division launched an investigation, which revealed that while a 4-year-old girl was visiting relatives, a male relative allegedly forced the minor to perform a sex act, while he recorded the said act on his cellphone.

PC Nyaik of the Chaguanas Child Protection Unit then charged the suspect on 8th March with two counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child, Creating Child Pornography, and Possession of Child Pornography.

Investigations were supervised by Superintendent Claire Guy- Alleyne, ASP Seecharan, Inspector Ramphal, and Sergeant Banwarie.
