Body of man who drowned at Damien Bay found

The body of a man who drowned in Blanchisseuse on Saturday has been found.

Report state that the body of 25-year-old Joshua Stephens washed ashore at Damien Bay earlier on Friday.

Stephens of Upper Cascade Valley Road and Cocorite, went to Damien Bay with friends around 4:30 pm on Saturday 18th November.

Shortly after arrival, Stephens, who was said to be intoxicated at that time, went into the water and swam approximately fifteen (15) meters out at sea. He then encountered difficulties before he disappeared under the water.

Attempts made by the others to locate him were unsuccessful at that time.

The Coast Guard was notified to assist with searches for the victim.
His body was located earlier today and investigations are continuing by Blanchisseuse police.
