4 detained following Chaguanas robbery; stolen items recovered

Quick work by police led to the arrest of four men on Monday 28th December, 2020, following an armed robbery at a Chaguanas variety store.

The proprietress of a variety store located at Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, reported to police that around 4.35 pm yesterday, she saw four men, three of whom entered her business place. Two of the men then brandished firearms and announced a robbery.

The businesswoman reported that the men proceeded to rob her of a quantity of cigarettes, $1,500 cash, several perfumes, soft drinks, and other items, following which they escaped in a white Tiida motor vehicle. Sgt Ag Howard and officers of the Cunupia CID, together with Central Division Task Force-North, ERP, Highway Patrol Central and other supporting units of the Central Division responded and apprehended the suspects along the Narsaloo Ramaya Marg Road, Chaguanas.

Police recovered the stolen items and also found and seized one FN pistol and a magazine containing six rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.

Investigations are continuing.
