Arson suspected as two Petit Valley homes go up in flames

Arson is suspected as two homes were destroyed by fire on Sunday night in Petit Valley.

Police were told that at around 9 pm, a group of men were seen entering a fenced area along Barter Circular where the homes were located.

The suspects appeared to be holding firearms as well as canisters.

They then began banging on the front door of the home of a 40-year-old woman and instructed her to come out.

The victim and her family, fearful for their lives, hid in the home and did not exit.

Shortly after, the home was seen engulfed with smoke.

The victim and the family were able to escape the premises by breaking through a back door.

The fire quickly spread the home of another family member, which is located on the same property.

Fire officers from the Four Roads station contained the blaze, however, the two homes were severely damaged.

No one was injured in the incident.
