Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi is continuing to deny that any special favours were granted to his daughter to re-enter the country recently.
A GML report said the AG’s 19-year-old daughter, Jinan Alexa Al-Rawi, was granted a ‘special’ exemption to return home on leave from studying abroad.
They report that she arrived on a private jet in Trinidad on June 5 from Barbados.
She is studying at a University in Spain and returned home via London and then Barbados.
Documents obtained by GML, showed that the Minister of National Security himself, Fitzgerald Hinds, in a letter dated June 4, 2021, granted Al-Rawi’s daughter permission to enter the country on June 5.
The AG told the media house his daughter applied months ago in a regular way that everybody else did. “She received her permissions in the regular way everyone else did. She was properly tested. In fact, she had two negative PCR tests. She is a returning student like many hundreds of them. She is certainly not on vacation. There are hundreds of students in her situation and we help all of them.”
He also maintained that his daughter was placed in state quarantine, despite claims that she was not.
This unfolds as scores of T&T citizens are still stuck outside of the country since the border closure last March.
