2nd Covid-related death recorded in Tobago

A 57-year old victim is the latest patient to die from Covid-19 in Tobago.

The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development said that the patient had comorbidities.

Councillor Tracy Davidson Celestine, Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development expressed sincere condolences to the family and loved ones.

She said, “This is a most difficult time for the family and loved ones of the woman we lost to COVID-19. Let us support them with our thoughts and prayers at this time. Every person we lose to this monster pandemic is one too many. We must do what we can to protect our loved ones. Mask up, wash your hands, follow the guidelines, it will save lives. We cannot think it won’t be me or you.”

She urged the public to use telephone counselling support services to battle this pandemic.

“Just reach out if you feel the need to talk to someone; we are all in this together,” she said

The latest death brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Tobago to two.

Additionally, one person tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago.

All established protocols were implemented, inclusive of contact tracing, which is ongoing.

The clinical update for Tobago is as follows:

Number of samples submitted to the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) and other local sites to test for COVID-19- 1132

Number of samples that tested positive for COVID-19- 59

Number of active COVID-19 cases- 14

Number of patients at the COVID-19 Treatment Facility- 5

Number of patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit-1

Number of patients at the step-down facility- 8

Number of persons discharged- 43 (updated figure as of 25/09/2020)

Number of deaths = 2
