Former JCC President says the private sector is hoping for urgency with bringing procurement regulations in parliament

Former President of the Joint Consultative Council, Winston Riley, says the private sector civil society is hoping there is a bit more urgency in bringing procurement regulations in parliament.

The Public Sector Civil Society Group is calling on the government to give the country a specific date for laying the regulations in parliament.

In a recent newspaper ad the group says parliament’s passage of the regulations is the final major requirement for the full operationalization of the Public Procurement legislation.

Speaking during the On Line Programme on Power 102fm this afternoon, Mr Riley highlighted the seriousness of the situation.

Mr Riley said he was surprised with the recent introduction of a bill in the parliament where the state is seeking to bring amendments to the existing legislation.
