17-year-old boy granted $50,000 bail after being charged with sexual penetration of a minor

A 17-year-old boy of Signal Hill, Tobago, was granted $50,000 bail when he appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate on Tuesday charged with sexual penetration of a minor.

He is expected to reappear before the court on January 19th, 2021.

The boy’s mother will act as surety as he was also ordered to report to the Shirvan Road Police Station once a week.

The charge arose out of a report made by a 12-year-old girl to police while at the Signal Hill Recreational Grounds, a boy held her down and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Acting Woman Corporal Clarke, of the Tobago Child Protection Unit, launched an investigation into the details of the report and subsequently arrested and charged the accused for one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
