12 held as South cops target priority offenders

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) conducted a successful intelligence-driven anti-crime operation in the Southern Division yesterday, Friday 7th June, 2024. Initiated by Senior Superintendent Sooden, the exercise aimed to address and reduce firearm-related crimes, robberies, shootings, and gang activities within the division.

Leveraging intelligence gathered on gang operations and utilizing extensive surveillance, the TTPS executed several search warrants at the residences of priority offenders in Mandingo Road, Princes Town, and Ethel Street, La Romaine. As a result of these coordinated efforts, twelve individuals were arrested for various offences:

1) A 30-year-old labourer for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.
2) A 32-year-old labourer from Princes Town for enquiries into Outstanding Robbery and Shooting Offences in Southern Division.
3) A 44-year-old unemployed man from Princes Town for enquiries into Outstanding Robbery and Shooting offences in Southern Division.
4) A 38-year-old welder from La Romaine for Possession of Cocaine.

Seven suspects from La Romaine and one from Ste Madeleine were jointly arrested for Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking (18.20 grams) and Possession of Marijuana (150 grams).

Also, a structured Divisional Warrant Exercise was conducted with all stations in the Southern Division between Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th June 2024, which resulted in the execution of 82 warrants and the arrest of 26 persons.

The exercises were initiated by Snr Supt Soodeen, with supervision by Supt Singh, Supt Birch, ASP Singh, ASP Phillip, ASP Ramsaran, coordination by Insp Mohammed, Insp Wilkinson Sgt Gangoo, Sgt Malloo, Insp Ramsaran, Cpl Madhoo and PC Mahase, alongside Sgt Teeluck, Cpl Nanan and members of Southern Division Gang Unit and Southern Division Task Force.
