10 days left in the parallel health care system for hospitalizations based on the rate of infections

“Trinidad and Tobago can find itself in a very critical situation if the current trends in ingestions and hospitalizations continues.”

This according to acting Principal Medical Officer in charge of institutions, Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards, during today’s Health Media briefing.

Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards said that the health care system is presently at 48% with 260 persons hospitalized.

She said that presently 13.6% of new infections are being hospitalized while only 6.6% being discarded for the same periods.

“This situation can in ten days overwhelm the 542 available beds and resources in the parallel health care system,” said Abdool-Richards.
